THE LORD’S WILL

Psalm 37:5- “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.”

Bible Passage: Psalm 37:23-37

INTRODUCTION:…. A Christian is one who has renounced his own will and submit to the will of God for his life in all that he does. The life of Jesus Christ on earth is perfect illustration of absolute conformity to the will of God (Hebrews 10:7) as Jesus was assigned a special task to perform on earth, each Christian is simmilary assigned to a special task. The problem that faces every Christian then is how to ascertain the will of God for his life.

OUTLINES:-…….

1. IS THERE A PLAN FOR MY LIFE?
Yes, there is a plan for your life. There is a divine plan and purpose for each of God’s people. This plan take into consideration of your personality, talents, needs, potentialities and environment (Ephesians 2:10). God has ordained specific task, work or race for each individual Christian (Hebrews 12:1). Paul could say, “……I have finish my course…..” Only when he has fulfilled his ministry and his work was completed (2 Timothy 4:7).

2. WHAT IS THE PLAN LIKE?
God’s plan for you is very personal, it is just for you. The plan is very detailed with everything worked out step by step (Psalms 37:23). God may not reveal the distant future but His guidance will be continuous (Isaiah 58:11). He is ready to reveal the next step to you but, as usual, you need to ask before you can receive (Psalms 143:8). One thing you can be sure of us is that God’s will for you is always good and perfect (Romans 12:2). You must also realise that you are incapable of planning your own life (Jeremiah 10:23). God knows the future and He the one capable of choosing our vocation, life partner and path.

3. HAVE ALL THE PLANS. CERTAIN THINGS IN COMMON?
Yes, God,s plan always include features. For example, separation from sin into Holiness is always in any divine plan (1Thessalonians 4:3). Prayer and thanks giving are always God’s will for us (1thessalonians 5:17-18). Every one is also expected to do good deeds (1 Peter 2:15). This three thins are basic to every individual plan of God.

4. WHAT MUST I DO TO BE GUIDED BY GOD?

If you are a save soul and you wish to know God’s plan for your life, there are certain things you must do.
(a) Trust in the Lord (Psalms 37:3; 32:8). You can only be guided by someone you trust.
(b) Commit everything to Him only. Do not choose and then ask him to ratify (Psalms 37:5).
(c) Rest in Him and be patient. God is a King, the King of kings, therefore, honour Him and not hasten Him (Psalms 37:7). He promise to guide but no necessarily to reveal His will the same day that you request for it.
(d). Surrender to the will of God(Romans 12:1-2). When He finally reveal His will to you, abide by it.

WHAT METHODS DOES GOD USE IN REVEALING HIS WILL?

God is sovereign and does not work according to a set pattern for He deals with each person differently. However, God often guide through portions of scriptures that keep flashing into your mind (Psalms 199:105). Do not close your eyes and point at random. God does not act haphazardly. Saturate your self with the word of God so that the Lord can bring various point into your mind as the needs arises. God,s will is never contrary to the Bible, therefore, know the word of God. Another method commonly use by God is inner conviction that is given by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:16). Always ask “Is this the voice of my own desire or is it what God want me to do?” (John 16:13). Any obstacle could be a stoplight so that we can wait for Him.

CONCLUSION:-…….
There are ways that God may use in revealing His will but the above two are the surest. In all cases, surrender your own will and be absolutely natural if you are to know His will. Pray for guidance, study the word and wait on God. You only need light before taking one step at a time. Obey that light and then He will give you further light.
