A middle-aged woman has been reportedly raped to death by suspected cattle rustlers.
The victim, accompanied by her 18-year-old son, was attacked by the hoodlums while returning from the farm at Odighi community in Ovia North east Local Government Area of Edo State last Tuesday.
The deceased’s son was reported to have escaped while his mother was raped to death.
The incident prompted some farmers in the community to lodge a complaint with the police at Ekiadolor Divisional Police headquarters who recovered the body of the deceased.
Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo State Police Command, Noble Uwoh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who confirmed the sexual assault and murder of the woman, said three suspects linked with the crime had been arrested.
He gave the names of the three suspects as Mohammed, Isah and Yusuf.
“The woman along with her 18-year-old son were accosted while returning from the farm. Her son managed to escape while the woman was raped to death by the suspects,” he said.
